Rohingya Refugees in India – Around 40,000 Rohingya refugees are living illegally in India mainly in Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi in the north, Hyderabad, and Chennai in the south, Northeast and West Bengal and Rajasthan in the west. Small settlements are present in Aligarh, Mathura, Kolkata, and other places.
Major health emergency unfolded in refugee camps set up in Bangladesh during Rohingyas crisis (attack & violence in 2017). The DFY team provided medical aid to women and children who are undernourished and vulnerable to contagious diseases, etc. Malnutrition, diarrhea, lung and chest infections were found to be widespread in these camps.
