On 25th April 2015 (12 Baisakh, 2072), a massive earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale was experienced in Nepal. Kathmandu and adjoining districts: Sidhupal chowk, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Rasuwa, Kavre, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Dolakha, Makwanpur, Ramechhap, Okhaldhunga and Sindhuli districts were hardest hit.
More than 1000 patients in hill top villages of Nuwakot have been treated by team Doctors For You (DFY). Since 10th May 2015, DFY had set up a field clinic in Panchkanya VDC which lasted for 13 days. DFY had conducted health& hygiene orientation and also distributed 19 menstrual hygiene packs to adolescents. One health education session was also held on maternal and child health. The session was attended by 13 health workers.
Doctors For You (DFY) with assistance from Direct Relief International has purchased more than INR 1.62 crore (USD 261,290) of medicines and is distributing them in various hospitals affected by the earthquake.
